FamilyTies symposium

One target of FamilyTies is to create awareness of the particular situation of siblings and their families and to network. For this reason these symposia are held at regular intervals. Important building blocks in the guidance and support of affected siblings and their families will be presented and discusses together with practitioners and scientists. The symposia meetings offer the ever-growing network the possibility of regular and intensive dialogue in order to understand the needs of siblings and to offer appropriate assistance.

Standards or Variety in the support for sibling children? This question for a viable future of a comprehensive support of siblings was discussed at the 5th Conference of Family Ties Foundation on 10th and 11th July 2015 Holzkirchen near Munich.

Symposium 2014: Geschwisterkinder-Netzwerk-Symposium „Tailored relief of families by supporting siblings: review, insights, perspectives“

This year FamilyTies were guests at the Geschwisterkinder Netzwerk-Symposium „Tailored relief of families by supporting siblings: review, insights, perspectives“, which took place on 26th April 2014 in phaeno Wolfsburg.

This event was organized by our cooperation partner Geschwisterkinder Netzwerk Lower Saxony.

During this symposium we granted our FamilyTies promotional award 2014.

Symposium 2013: Working together for siblings - promotion of life skills and prevention

15th/16th March 2013 in Nuremberg

 

The focus of the annual Novartis FamilyTies Foundation symposium, held in Nuremberg on 15 and 16 March 2013 and attended by around 120 experts from Germany and Austria, was on enabling sibling children to be happier with their lives by helping them to become stronger individuals and to develop their internal resources. The FamilyTies Foundation, the Institute for Social Medicine in Paediatrics Augsburg (ISPA), and the Liebenau Foundation issued the invitations.

Symposium 2012: Working together for siblings – access, content, and methodology in work with sibling children

16th/17th March 2012 in Nuremberg

 

The largest German symposium, “Working together for siblings – access, content, and methodology in work with sibling children”, was held for a second time in Nuremberg on 16 and 17 March 2012 and gave academics and practitioners in the fields of social work and medicine the opportunity to exchange information and ideas on the support of the siblings of chronically ill or disabled children. The Institute for Social Medicine in Paediatrics Augsburg (ISPA) and the Liebenau Foundation issued invitations on behalf of the FamilyTies initiative.

Symposium 2011: Working together for siblings – elements leading to the successful support of siblings

18th/19th February 2011 in Nuremberg 

 

Important elements in the care and support of affected sibling children and their families were presented and discussed together with practitioners and academics at the symposium held in Nuremberg on 18 and 19 February 2011. The ISPA (Institute for Social Medicine in Paediatrics Augsburg) and the faith-based charity Diakonie Stetten e.V., partners in the FamilyTies network together with Novartis, issued the invitations to the symposium in Nuremberg.
